CHARLOTTE, N.C., June 11, 2008 – Merriman Schmitt Architects (MSA) has added two new staff members.
Aleshia Eckard has joined the firm as Project Architect. A 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s College of Architecture, she will work in the firm’s Architectural Studio. A North Carolina native, she attended the Pratt Institute in New York for three years prior to transferring to the UNC-C College of Architecture in 2006.
Before joining Merriman Schmitt Architects, she worked as a contract draftsman for Providence Mill Work in Charlotte, as an architectural image editor for the UNC-C College of Architecture, and as a plotting lab assistant in the Pratt Institute College of Architecture. She is skilled in a wide range of architectural software applications, including AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max, Maya and Sketch-Up, and is an expert in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Matthew Jones has joined the firm as Project Architect in the firm’s Architectural Studio. A native of Ontario, he holds a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s College of Architecture. He was most recently a CAD operator and 3D modeler at URBANA in Charlotte where he provided 3D modeling, design development and construction document production. He has also held positions with the Clearwater Group in Raleigh, the UNC-C College of Architecture, and the Freudenberg Nonwoven Division in Durham. He brings more than seven years of experience in AutoCAD and Power CADD, and is skilled in Sketch-Up, Rhinoceros, Maya, and 3D Studio Max.
Merriman Schmitt Architects, based in Charlotte, specializes in the design of Class A office, industrial, retail, and mixed use facilities. Services include architecture, 3D rendering and animation, master planning, and interior design and architecture.
